On Sunday, I took a tour of the Hull House. I met the curriculum director of the museum and got to see some behind the scenes materials. I am stuck by the determination of women working together. Although the museum is small there is still enough persevered items from Jane's life throughout the home. Seeing her Noble Prize and looking through her letters was amazing. In truth, when it starred, Hull House was a collaborative community project. Jane Addams was just one of many women who worked toward social justice reform in Chicago. As I read more about the development of Hull House, it is my hope that women like Jenny Dow, Julia Lathrop and others will gain their recognition next to Jane Addams. In later year, after Jane died, many things changed and with those changes came the realities of an even more segregated Chicago. I left the Hull House wanting to know more.
